Make-up Magnet Board

I saw this idea in blog land and thought....THAT IS SO SMART!
I found it over at Laura Thoughts

She starts with a basket of make-up.
(Most of us have our make-up in a basket, drawer, or bag too)

She found an old picture at the Salvation Army.

She made a few changes to the  picture & frame wouldn't you say?
After painting the frame, she picked up some metal from the hardware store and fit it inside the frame. To make it pretty, she used spray adhesive to attach some fabric to the metal.

Added some magnets to the back of her makeup.

She also added containers to store her brushes.

Now, don't you wish you had thought of this too!  It is very clever and cute.
For all the details, go check out her blog.
I'm sure Laura will love that you stopped by.

One Drawer at at Time

IMG_0367

I know this is another non-crafting/decorating post but what is decorating without organization right?

I have a few more drawers like these in my kitchen.  They are catch all drawers as I like to call them.

Organization in baby steps.

Does the stuff around you feel like CHAOS at times? I wouldn't say life is crazy around me (well, no more than normal) but the stuff around me is. I would love to be that type A personality that has all things in orders...from the paper that comes into my house to the stuff in the attic.

I told dh a couple of weeks ago, that if I just organize a room a week at our house then it will be done before Christmas. (I was giving myself a week off here and there.)

I did get my "tool" closet organized. I switched the linen closet with the tool closet. We were not putting the tools away because it was out the way to walk down the hall, open the door, and put the stuff on the shelf. (silly I know) Well, by switching these two, you walk right by the tool closet now and it is easy to put things were the belong. (not just throw them anywhere but in their actual spot).

Now, I have 217 more places to organize. Okay, Okay...not really that many but it feels like it. I will have to tackle one drawer or closet at a time.

The list of places that need organization could go on and on.....I'll keep you posted on my progress.

Dresser Drawers Redo

As I posted a few weeks ago, I have been looking for ways to
recycle, reuse, and redo.

I have come up with a way to do that with an old small dresser we had sitting in the attic. I had purchased this dresser for $10 from a garage sale a couple of years ago and we no longer were using it. So I thought I revamp it and make a bookcase for my living room. I took the photo in bad lighting...so the glare is in from my flash. Sorry about that. I started out with these dresser drawers. (I already have another plan for the dresser.)
I removed all the hardware and stacked the drawers on top of each other so dear hubby could get an idea of what I was wanting to do.
You get the idea?So I took the drawers outside and started putting on the base coat. A flat black.
I screwed the drawers together, added some paneling to the backside to help stabilize it, and put on the final coats of paint. Wallllaaa.....I have new bookcase. (Pay no mind to the accessories. Some of them are projects I'm working on.) I now have an extra piece of furniture and it was not cost to me. I used stuff I had on hand to make it.

Busy Summer

Today I filled out my families summer schedule. Does June look busy to you?

My sister in law would be so proud of me.
All the organization and color coding is right up her alley.
