Creativity

Have you been told since you were little that you were creative?  Did you grow up with creativity being encouraged?  I believe we all are creative and that sometimes we just have to believe in our ideas.  No matter what creative talent you have, it might be writing, photography, DIY, painting, gardening, crafts, what ever it might be...keep at it and the more you use your talent I believe the more it will grow.

Photos courtsey of me.  :)
Nothing encourages creativity like the chance to fall flat on one's face.  ~James D. Finley

Think left and think right and think low and think high. Oh, the thinks you can think up if only you try! ~Dr. Seuss, Oh, the Thinks You Can Think!

Never tell people how to do things.  Tell them what to do and they will surprise you with their ingenuity.  ~George Smith Patton, War as I Knew It, 1947

I paint objects as I think them, not as I see them.  ~Pablo Picasso

Sometimes I've believed as many as six impossible things before breakfast.  ~Lewis Carroll

This is a song by FRANCESCA BATTISTELLI.
It is called "This Is The Stuff"

Here are the lyrics:
I lost my keys in the great unknown
And call me please 'Cuz I can't find my phone

This is the stuff that drives me crazy
This is the stuff that's getting to me lately
In the middle of my little mess
I forget how big I'm blessed
This is the stuff that gets under my skin
But I gotta trust You know exactly what You're doing
It might not be what I would choose
But this is the stuff You use

45 in a 35
Sirens and fines while I'm running behind
Whoa

This is the stuff that drives me crazy
This is the stuff that's getting to me lately
In the middle of my little mess
I forget how big I'm blessed
This is the stuff that gets under my skin
But I gotta trust You know exactly what You're doing
It might not be what I would choose
But this is the stuff You use

So break me of impatience
Conquer my frustrations
I've got a new appreciation
It's not the end of the world
Oh Oh Oh

This is the stuff that drives me crazy
This is the stuff
Someone save me
In the middle of my little mess
I forget how big I'm blessed
This is the stuff that gets under my skin
And I've gotta trust You know exactly what You're doing
It might not be what I would choose
But this is the stuff You use

Oh Oh Oh Oh
This is the stuff You use

______

I really identified with these lyrics. This songs helps keeps thing in perspective and it's a catchy little tune. I hope it makes you smile today.

Props to Shiela for sharing that song with me.  :)

Sneak Peak

How many projects can one have going on at the same time?

:)

Right now I have started 3.5 projects.  I say .5 because I have one idea laid out but I have not actually started it yet.

Here is a sneak peak of what is going on at my house right now.

Distress Ink :)

So many of you crafters out there have been using this stuff.
Some of you distress the edges of paper, use it to as paint, and for stamping.
All kinds of things.

This past weekend I went here
and purchased some of my very own distress ink.

Sweet!  That makes me happy.  :)

New Blog Design at The Painted Studio

I have re-designed my blog thanks to Mandi at Mandipidy!!!

Go to her blog and click on the DIY Blog Makeover tab...

I created a header, a blog button, and did a little resizing to my blog with the help of her tutorials.

I have a few things in mind to "tweek" still but for now they will have to wait.  I do have other things I have to get done today. :)
What do you think?
Any suggestions?

Where Painted Studio Started

I thought I would give you just a little bit a history as to why I call my blog "The Painted Studio". About 6 years ago I had seen custom painted kids clothes on eBay. No way was I going to pay the prices on eBay so I bought some paints and gave it a try. It was alot of fun and my kids and I enjoyed making the clothes for my kids. This is the first painted outfit I made. I was liked how it turned out so I started painting this design on lots of different jeans and overalls and sold them on eBay. At that time my eBay name was allyrnelson, it was a shared account with my sister so that is the name I put on my photos. After I started selling more and more I took the name
"The Painted Studio".

Here are a few more exaples of the work I had done.

If you like these, I will show you some other designs on another day.

Have a good one!

DIY Block Letters

Here is a project I completed last week. It only cost me $1 for the fabric. I love these kinds of projects. I started out with a cardboard box. I cut out my H and then cut strips to glue to the back to make a block letter.
(Sorry this picture is so small..hmmmm) I ended up with this block letter. Easy-peasy.

I then went to my local Wal-mart to find some fabric I liked. I picked out the fabric square for $1. Then using my Mod Podge, I glued the fabric to the cardboard. Cutting here and there and adding more Mod Podge. I really love how it turned out.

I will even let you peek at the back. See, I got lazy umm..no I mean...I ran out of time and I left the back unfinished. No one can see this side anyway...so it all works out.

Here are some other people who have done their own letter as well.

testing testing

Ignore this post...I'm trying something out.

:)

Jackpot!

I hit the jackpot!
I drove by a building that had a sign out front...FREE FOR ALL.
WHAT? Did that say what I thought?
Back to the office I go to get someone to go with me because I'm a chicken and don't like to go into places I don't know by myself. So, with my partner in crime I went back. My partner informed me that we were not shopping all day. I said no problem. I breezed through that place grabbing this and that. After I had an arm full of things I wanted I headed for the door. I couldn't stop grinning from ear to ear. Free stuff makes me happy.
Now I have to go to break out my spray paints and see what I can do with it!
Ps. I went back today without my trusty sidekick so I could look around some more. I loaded my van up with more stuff. I will share that with you next week.

Tell me you can see the potential of these items too. :)

Our First Fishing Trip

The kids and I went fishing at Jerry Paul Combs Lake in Kennett. It was a nice day but a little windy. Here are a few pics from our trip.
Kara & Trey with the only fish we caught.
Trey was so excited but he never did touch it.
Lani got to touch it and even throw it back into the lake.
Lani was all smiles during our fishing trip.
When she got tired of fishing, she started playing with her new pet worm.
May the worm rest in peace.

Kara helping Trey fish.

She-She was teaching Lani how to cast her line.
